Our Philosophy

Roots of giving is an ethical gift fair, it exists to promotes local fair trade and ethical businesses in order to provide our community with positive shopping alternatives during the holiday season. Our goal is to educate our community about the exploitation of people and planet and to empower them as consumers to choose ethical gifting this holiday season and beyond. This season, let's make our sharing and collaboration grow stronger than competition and accumulation. We are excited to provide a fun and spirited environment to celebrate the holiday season with our beloved PLNU community.

Student Vendors Reflect on Roots of Giving

Point Loma Nazarene University's Center for Justice and Reconcilitation's Roots of Giving event provides a time for students and the larger community to come together to support ethical and sustainable businesses and products. In the couple months that have passed since Roots of Giving took place, vendors have had the time to reflect on and experience the impact that Roots of Giving has had on their businesses.

Spreading Roots of Giving

During the normal school year, the Center for Justice and Reconciliation (CJR) at Point Loma Nazarene University fills Caf Lane with a variety of different vendors for a night of Christmas shopping with a twist. Each booth has ethically sourced products and is classified as a fair trade business.

Ethical Gift Market on Campus To Encourage Fair Trade & Local Vendors

This isn't the first year that the Center for Justice and Reconciliation Center (CJR) at Point Loma Nazarene University has held Roots of Giving, but this will be the first time both first-year and second-year students will be experiencing it in person. The CJR will be holding Roots of Giving on Caf lane on Dec.
